What we’ve been doing:
This fall the Camp and Youth Sports program staff were busy running field trips and archery programs at Camp Shepard as well as various youth sport clinics. Some of the youth sports included a Pre-season High School Basketball League, a 4 week Pewee indoor soccer clinic, as well as our Cooperative Basketball League that is currently running through February. The YMCA also started this year’s Leaders Club very strong with almost 30 club members, more than doubling the size of the club from last year. The Leaders have been hard at work volunteering at events such as the Autism Speaks Walk, the Amelia Park Christmas Party, various youth sports programs, and a bake sale on Veterans Day!
What to look for:
Youth Sports at the YMCA will soon be opening registration for a winter Floor hockey League, as well as spring sports such as a 6 week soccer program and Tennis. Camp Shepard will also be opening up registration for spring archery and High ropes classes. In the Winter, Camp will be hosting a winter carnival featuring ice skating, snow shoeing, sledding, fort building and much more! Camp Shepard is also beginning to schedule field trips and rentals for the spring and summer for schools, parties, businesses, and organizations. Our Leaders club will continue to be meeting every Wednesday at 7pm as well as volunteering as much as they can. Leaders Club is always welcoming new members and encourage anyone between the ages of 12-18 to join!
