The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities. At the Y, it’s not about the activity you choose as much as it is about the benefits of living healthier on the inside as well as the outside.
ACTIVE TOGETHER is an innovative 60-minute workout that improves cardiovascular fitness builds total-body strength and enhances movement health for daily life.

Couch to 5k
Ever wonder if you can complete a 5k race? You can! Get off the couch and join us for the Couch to 5k program, a fun and social way to get in shape and accomplish your exercise goals. To participate, you must be able to walk 30 minutes and be willing to do additional workouts during the week. Our end goal will be to run 3.1 miles at the end of 10 weeks with an optional walk/run race to finish. This program is geared towards the beginner who would benefit from a training program full of group support. The first class will be a half hour longer to allow everyone to do the first workout together.

Body Composition Analysis
Body fat percentage refers to the percentage of body fat mass (the weight of the fat) in regards to body weight. The weight that is not fat is referred to as fat free body mass. This information will be helpful to monitor changes in your body composition.

This non-aerobic class will cue you through the right body posture and movement to gain muscle strength for your entire body. The instructor will demonstrate how to use the equipment from hand weights, body bars, bands, exercuffs, stability balls, and steps. Feel strong as you sculpt your body with weights.

Boot Camp gives you the benefit of mixing up the routine to keep those muscles guessing. This heart pumping class uses cardio drills: running, jump, roping, stepping, with a challenging free weight routine. It’s to increase muscular endurance and strength. Boot camp incorporates various equipment: body bars, stability balls, steps, bands etc.

Experience your cycle class on a Kesier stationary bike. Instructors go over proper seat adjustments and set up, as they guide you through a warm-up steady up tempo cadence, sprints, climbs, and a cool down. You control the resistance to make the pedaling as easy or as difficult as you choose. This is an enjoyable group setting with some classes, (weather permitting), held outside.

RENEWING OUR STRENGTH TOGETHER
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free 12-week exercise program for cancer survivors who are currently in or have completed treatment and are physically deconditioned. Developed by Stanford University, this specially designed program has proven to help survivors regain strength, overcome fatigue, and enhance functional ability to do everyday tasks. Our Y is committed to serving individuals and their families living with, through and beyond cancer.

Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. It’s easy to learn, a great way to get some exercise, a sport for all ages, and most important it’s a lot of FUN!
The Y will supply the paddles, balls and nets and a Game Coordinator who will give instruction and organize game-playing.

Pool Fitness classes are designed for people of all ages to utilize the buoyant qualities of the water to enhance their physical fitness. It is an ideal form of exercise to increase physical strength and endurance without overheating and putting stress on the joints. No swimming skills are required in these classes, but participants should feel comfortable in the water. Class can accommodate beginner through advanced. Please let the instructor know if you need modifications due to an injury or you want options to increase the intensity of your workout.

This class combines the gentle art of Tai-chi and the benefits of Pilates and puts them into the softness and buoyancy of water. This is a great way to work-out the Core while being easy on the joints. All abilities are welcomed from the athletic individual to the individual with joint problems.

AWARENESS • SAFETY • PROTECT
The self-defense series will consist of three Sunday afternoon’s for woman only. Each Sunday you will get workouts that will maximum physical efficiency and self-confidence to help deal with a variety of situations. You will learn how to quickly disable an attacker and learn how to take advantage of time and space. You will learn various stances, striking motions, kicks, choke holds, and other defense techniques to help protect yourself.
Learn to prepare for the unexpected!
The instructor, Catlin McCue, is a is a is a certified R.A.D., rape aggression defense, instructor. This program is based on realistic self-defense tactics taught for woman only.

Special Needs Adult Swim
These open swim times are available for adults with physical and/or developmental challenges. Participants enjoy a positive interaction with others while swimming in a warm water pool. Staff supervision is mandatory on a one to one basis for individuals who require 24 hour supervisory care.

Tai Chi, a form of exercise developed in ancient China and practiced worldwide, has demonstrated under rigorous scientific studies to have a powerful effect on health. Known for its slow, fluid movement, the central premise in Tai Chi is to integrate the mind and body. The ongoing practice of Tai Chi is thought to enable qi or life force to flow powerfully and smoothly within the body. It has been shown in scientific studies to promote balance, flexibility, muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness as well as increased levels of psychological well-being and reduction of anxiety and stress.
Endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation, this particular style of Tai Chi – Tai Chi for Arthritis, developed by Dr. Paul Lam, a family physician and world leader in the field of Tai Chi for health improvement, has been shown to be particularly effective for people who have arthritis and/or joint problems.

Tai Chi & Fitness for Parkinson
DELAY THE DISEASE, STRENGHTEN THE BODY
Exercise is an important part of healthy living for everyone. For people with Parkinson’s, exercise is more than healthy: it is a vital component to maintaining balance, mobility and the ability to perform activities of daily living. Key ingredients to help manage the symptoms of Parkinson’s will incorporate the components of Tai Chi & Fitness exercise. Tai Chi is known for its slow, fluid movements. The central premise in Tai Chi is to integrate the mind and body. It promotes balance, flexibility, muscular strength, and increase levels of psychological well-being and reduction of anxiety and stress. The Fitness components will incorporate exercises that focus on strength and endurance. Strength exercise will combine functional movement with core strengthening. Endurance will work on larger muscular movement over duration of time. Individuals with other neurological conditions are also welcome to join the class!
