Summer Y's Kids

Seeking group leaders for the 9 Week Y’s Kids Summer Program. Hours available M-F, 7AM- 6PM.  Must be 18 years or older.
Supervise a group of children and program activities. Ensure the safety of children at all times. Assists the Site Directors and School Age Child Care Director while serving as a role model. The Counselor at the Westfield YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families.

Camp Shepard

Positions Available Include:

Unit Director
Responsible for the welfare of over approximately 75 campers, ages 4 to 6.  Supervises a staff of 10, assists in the development and implementation of staff training, plans daily activities, assists in planning camp-wide theme programs, responsible for establishing positive relationships with parents and campers, enforcing behavior management plan and instituting character development program.  Requires an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual.  Prior camp experience highly recommended; experience working with children a must. Minimum 21 yrs. of age.
 
Aquatic Director
Responsible for supervising aquatic staff and operating a safe aquatic environment.  Implements the camp swim program, which provides instruction for beginner, intermediate, and advance swimmers as outlined by the National YMCA Aquatics program.  Overseeing recreational swim in the afternoon.  Responsible for health and safety of campers while they are participating in the swim program.  Prior aquatic experience is a must.  Must have current CPR/First Aid,  and Lifeguard  certifications. Minimum 21 yrs of age
 
Lifeguards
Responsible for instructing swim lessons in accordance with the National YMCA Aquatics program.  Afternoon is spent guarding recreational swim.  Must have current CPR/First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications
 
Specialists
Camp Specialists are responsible for the programming of their particular area.  Must plan and implement activities for the entire camp.  There are three periods in the morning and three afternoon periods.  Assist in planning all camp activities.  Specialist areas include field games, ropes adventure course, music/drama, arts & crafts, archery, environmental awareness / outdoor skills, arts & crafts, canoeing, character development and theme.  Please note that archery, boating, and ropes require proper certifications. Must be currently certified or willing to attend necessary training courses.
 
Counselors/Assistant Counselors
Supervises a group of children and program activities. Ensure the safety of campers at all times. Assists unit director, camp specialists and aquatic staff, institutes the Character Development Program, serves as a role model. The Day Camp Counselor at the Westfield YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families.
