Exciting Improvements Are Coming to Your YMCA!
We’re excited to share that some great improvements are coming to the YMCA of Greater Westfield!
To give our team and contractors the time and space needed to tackle several projects at once, the YMCA will be closed Monday, August 24 through Saturday, August 29. We will re-open at 5:00am on Monday, August 31.
We know closing the facility is an inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience. This dedicated week will allow us to complete a significant amount of work and give your Y a fresh new look!
Need to take care of YMCA business during shutdown week? Our Membership Desk will remain open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for child care registration and all membership-related transactions. While our facility will be closed for programs and member use, our team will still be here and ready to assist you!
During shutdown week, we’ll be busy:
Giving the gymnasium a fresh coat of paint
Painting the large pool and small pool areas;
Draining the large pool, cleaning tub and refilling
Making additional aesthetic improvements throughout our spaces
Revamping the upstairs cardio room to create an improved workout experience
Replacing electrical circuit breaker panels as part of important facility infrastructure upgrades
Completing a facility-wide deep cleaning
Your YMCA Membership Travels With You!
While our facility is closed, we encourage you to take advantage of Nationwide Membership and visit other participating YMCAs in the area, including locations in Springfield, Northampton, Holyoke, and Granby CT.
Before heading out, please check directly with the YMCA you plan to visit for current schedules, hours, and facility availability. Many YMCAs use the late summer months to complete their own maintenance and improvement projects, so certain areas or amenities may also be temporarily unavailable.
And There’s More!
The Family Changing Room will be closed the week of August 31 while the shower is regrouted. We had hoped to complete this project during our shutdown week, but unfortunately, the vendor’s schedule did not align with ours. We appreciate your patience while we get this project completed.
Our shutdown week is just one part of the investment we’re making in your YMCA. By the end of 2026, we also expect to complete several additional major facility improvements, including:
A full renovation of the downstairs Men’s Locker Room
A complete gymnasium upgrade, including a new floor, new basketball hoops, and new wall padding
Specific dates for these projects have not yet been finalized. Once schedules are confirmed, we will communicate any closures or impacts to members well in advance so you can plan accordingly.
We are incredibly excited about everything happening at the Y. These improvements are all part of our ongoing commitment to creating a facility that our members and community can be proud of.
