YOUR OPINION MATTERS
YMCA COMMUNITY DISCUSSION GROUPS
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. The YMCA of Greater Westfield has listened and responded to our communities’ most critical social needs for more than 131 years, and will continue to do so. One of our strategic priorities is to explore opportunities to expand our programs and services that address critical issues in our three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
We are conducting informal community discussion groups to learn more as to what role the Y could play in helping to meet the needs of the community. A few of the discussion topics that we hope to cover are
Adults:
Availability of services aimed at engaging the entire family unit
Adults are supported in practicing positive habits that include physical activity and healthy eating
Presence of community spaces where adults can develop connections with others
Availability of learning opportunities for adults
Youth:
Youth are supported in practicing positive habits that include physical activity and healthy eating
Youth exit high school with college or career readiness skills
Availability of non-athletic programs that draw our youth skills, creativity and confidence
Safe and secure community spaces for our youth
We would like to invite you to participate in our Community Discussion Groups. These discussions will last 45 minutes. Your input will help members of our board and our staff understand what we are doing well and what we might be able to do better in the future. Beverages and snacks will be served. We have a gift for you as a way to thank you for participating.
All discussion groups will take place on Tuesday 4/23 at the Senior Center, 45 Noble St., Westfield
