Swim lessons for youth ages 5-12 are broken down into two categories: Swim Basics and Swim Strokes. 

Swim Basics (Stages 1, 2/3): In this program, school-age kids learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills—swim, float, swim and jump, push, turn, grab.

Swim Strokes (Stages 4/5): Having mastered the fundamentals, school-age kids learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique.

Fall Session 1 Swim Basics Class Times:

Stage 1: Saturdays 10:10-10:50am, Saturdays 11:15-11:55am

Stages 2/3: Thursdays 5:40-6:20pm, Saturdays 9:45-10:25am, Saturdays 10:30-11:10am, Saturdays 11:20-12:00pm

Fall Session 1 Swim Strokes Class Times:

Stages 4/5: Fridays 5:05-5:45pm, Saturdays 9:00-9:40am, Saturdays 11:15-11:55am

​Fall Session 1 (6 weeks, September 14-October 21) Registration will open on Monday, August 28 for members and Wednesday, August 30 for the community. Registration can be done in person at the Y of over the phone by calling the Welcome Center (413) 568-8631.
